Draw The Sun 03:30
Son in a legion and the lies your believing cutting a wedge into your home Shelling as instinct culling as wisdom Could we ever just leave them alone? Body parts mounting as we drink from the fountain shipping the gravy back home Slap on some labels and we'll stare out our navels to a soundtrack of metal on bone You draw the sun from the sky with your faith in the lies of the people who need you to roll out their crimes as you stand in the street with your head held high coz the men of your country fought with such pride you might cast your thoughts to the darkening of hearts in the brotherhood of man torn apart for the belief that conflict is a worthwhile pursuit when you're rewarded with a folded flag and a rifled salute aimed at the eye of the sun You draw the sun from the sky

I could see it in the distance I could see it coming fast I thought that it might reach me but didn't think it would last. When the call went out for men we scrambled to our feet, kissed goodbye our loved ones and said "We'll be home in a couple of weeks". Johnny was the first one I didnt see him fall he never was a fighter and shouldn't have been there at all. Through all the dust 'n blood I saw the look on his childlike face, could think only of his mother and how he'd never be replaced. Though we pushed and we pulled in that god forsaken place, we never moved an inch. It was such a fuckin' waste. We fought for politicians, we fought for kings and queens. We fought the fight for freedom and everything in between. We read the propaganda. We were fed a pack of lies. There would have to be a price, they paid it with their lives. They told us we were fighting the war to end all wars when all we were fighting was another man's war.

Every nations soldier coming to the fore lying in wait for the generals dreaded call in a time where black is white and lies spill like blood mothers remember new born cries and the fire in the sky begins to glow what if we put out the fire? what if we stayed at home? what if we left them alone? wall to wall diplomats presidents and kings the Berlin wall's significance is drowning in the din newsprint flies full of re-used lies the sky is painted red children cry and run and hide from the dragons over head our demons will be forged in the fire our legacy will be our curse we're only gonna make it worse

The Fact 04:21
we were sitting so very quietly in the comfort of our homes tending to the children and the needs of our own when storm clouds over the hill began to shadow the fields and the lightning began to strike as the raiders raised their swords so we fortified ourselves bolted closed the doors freedom street was closed cut off at the top we'd have to fight our way out and thats what the war was all about and it all comes down to the fact that were getting very fat off the backs of the free world it all comes down to the fact that we never check the facts where were the weapons George? Set 'em up and knock 'em down into the ground draw them out to fight so we can claim the right to go in there and calm the aggression and if they answer back we'll give their face a slap coz we wont stand for oppression

Lost at Sea 02:37
You said you'd be a sailor boy now you're lost at sea remember what they said? remember what they said

about

Following on from 2011's sleepy debut (Songs in Silence), The Sigh Company change things up by presenting us with a timely wake up call. If Songs in Silence was intended to be a sedative for the wounded soul the new album 'Dark' is a bucket of water to the face which aims to clear the sleep from drowsy eyes.

With lines like "belief that conflict is a worthwhile pursuit when you're rewarded with a folded flag and a rifled salute" (Draw the Sun track 2) writer Saul Behan-Dunne takes issue with the use of violence in the name of patriotism, warns of the danger of enforcing western values on the rest of the world "our demons will be forged in the fire" (The Life of a Nation track 4) and calls out the 'Me' generation on The Fact (track 9) by pulling lines from under the carpet like "the free world is getting fat off the backs of the people in the third world".

Sonically, much of the bliss of previous releases (Songs in Silence, Circles) is gone from this release but 'Dark' is no lesser sibling. It's the rockier, rawer half brother that htakes us on a train ride through the rouh terrain of the human condition before bringing us safely home by jamming it out to the sage words of John F Kennedy.

Interested? We'll then, you gotta go Dark.
